What makes our eggs so special?

Three boxes of Wellburn Farm's eggs, with two open showing multi-coloured eggs

Happy, healthy hens

Our hens have the freedom to roam all day, every day of the year on fresh pasture. We move them every few days to give them new grass in which to forage, graze and dust bathe.

This truly outdoor lifestyle (they even choose to go out in the snow!) makes for the happiest, healthiest hens who are able to express all their natural behaviours. You can taste the difference in the eggs they produce.

Organic feed and forage

Hens are omnivores and will forage for grass and flowers as well as insects and even small mammals (if they can catch them)! In addition to whatever they find in our pasture, our hens are fed 100% organic feed, which contains all the nutrients that laying hens need.

Regenerative farming

We are working to create a truly regenerative farming system, where we farm in harmony with nature to build our soil, increase biodiversity and prevent the loss of nutrients and water from our land.

By rotating our flock regularly around the farm, we ensure that their impact on the ground is minimal, and the grass has a long time to recover from each grazing session. We aim to increase the variety of plants and create macro and micro diversity within our pasture, including beneficial plants traditionally thought of as weeds.

We are also planting trees and wildflowers to provide habitats for wildlife and insects, as well as future agroforestry area for our livestock.

Where can I get them?

Our eggs are currently on sale in the honesty box at our farm gate. If you are local and interested in a weekly or fortnightly delivery, sign up below to find out when our egg club is launching.
